Old Manila Walks - FAQs
Ivan Man Dy
Conceptualized, manufactured, bred and educated in the city of Manila, Ivan is the brains and the two feet behind Old Manila Walks. Before he finally took to the streets wore multiple hats including being long-time museum docent (and assistant director), a cultural activist, an occasional writer, a world traveler and a former business COO (child of owner!).
In 2005, he established Old Manila Walks and has since then literally walked a thousand miles. In between walks, he has found time to finish a master's degree in Cultural Heritage Studies, do professional work in the field of in heritage tourism, appear in countless local and international TV documentary shows and even do a quick modelling stint for multinational shoe brand(!)
Several years on and countless calluses later, he is still loving every step of the way.
An accidental walker, freelance writer and occasional photography junkie; Anson's interest in everything Manila was born out of the very place where he grew up and worked in. Wandering around Divisoria Market's busy streets, the history bug bit him and the rest , as they say, is history. This fascination with the past led to research and eventually writing on aspects of Manila's history for various online and print publications. In 2008, he finally hopped on board with us and has been walking in Intramuros, Chinatown and San Miguel ever since.
